Terms of service
The short version: an AI answers your phone, month to month, no lock-in, turn it off whenever you like.
Pilot terms.These are the plain-English terms we actually operate on with pilot salons. Formal terms of service, reviewed by an Australian lawyer, will replace them before general availability, and nothing in them will quietly walk back what's promised here.
What DeskOwl is
DeskOwl is an AI voice agent that answers your salon's phone, talks to callers in natural conversation, books, reschedules and cancels appointments in your connected calendar, and sends SMS confirmations and reminders. You divert your calls to it; you can turn that divert off at any time and your phone works exactly as before.
It's an AI, and we're straight about that
Calls are handled by artificial intelligence, not a person. The agent identifies itself as an AI if a caller asks. Like any AI, it can occasionally mishear or get something wrong: it is built to offer only real availability, to ask rather than invent, and to hand over to a human or take a message when a call is beyond it. Every call is logged so you can see exactly what it did.
Details are captured, not verified
The agent records what callers tell it: names, numbers, requests. It doesn't independently verify that information, so a caller who gives a wrong number gets a confirmation to the wrong number. Review anything unusual in your call log before relying on it, the same way you would with a paper message pad.
We never touch the money
DeskOwl books appointments; it does not take payments, deposits or card details from callers, and it never will without telling you first. Prices it quotes come from the price list you gave us; all payment happens in your salon through your own systems.
What we need from you
Accurate services, prices, durations and hours (we load these with you before going live, and you tell us when they change); the right to answer the number you divert to us; and, where your use of call recording requires it, letting your clients know calls may be recorded.
Plans and billing
Solo $149/month, Studio $249, Salon $399. Every plan has every feature; they differ by included talk minutes (300 / 600 / 1,200 per month, unused minutes rolling over up to one month's allowance) and staff calendars (1 / 4 / 10). Past your minutes, calls keep being answered at 35c/minute. Every plan starts with 7 days and 20 minutes of calls free, and we don't take a card until you go live.
Month to month, no lock-in
Pilot salons are month to month. There's no lock-in and no exit fee. If DeskOwl isn't earning its keep, turn the divert off and stop paying. Anything beyond what's written here, we'll agree with you in writing before you commit.
Fair use
DeskOwl is for running your salon's front desk. Don't use it to make unlawful calls or send unlawful messages, to harass anyone, or to impersonate a person or business. We can pause an account that's being misused, and we'll always talk to you first unless the misuse is serious.
Availability, honestly
We run DeskOwl on established telephony and AI infrastructure and aim for it to answer every call, but no phone system on earth is perfect and we won't pretend otherwise. Some pieces are outside our control: phone carriers, AI providers and calendar platforms have their own outages, and we can't be responsible for those. During the pilot there is no formal uptime guarantee; if something goes wrong on our side, we'll tell you what happened and make it right.
Your data is yours, the platform is ours
Everything about your salon and your clients belongs to you; you give us the right to process it purely to run your agent, and it comes back to you (or gets deleted) when you leave. The DeskOwl platform, its software and its voice belong to us; the plan you're on licenses you to use it, not to copy or resell it.
Ending things, in either direction
You can cancel any time with a message; it takes effect at the end of your current billing month and nothing more is charged. If we ever believe you're in breach of these terms, we'll tell you and give you 14 days to put it right before anything is suspended; only serious misuse gets an immediate pause. On the way out, we return or delete your data as described in our privacy page.
Changes and the basics
If these terms change in a way that matters, you'll get at least 30 days' notice by email, and if you don't like the change you can leave before it applies. DeskOwl is a business tool for account holders 18 or over, and these terms are governed by Australian law.
